2008 Year in Review - survey

JANUARY: HOW DID YOU RING IN 2008?: Working! The most helacious 13.5 hour double shift. Had I made as much money as some other servers it might not have been so bad. But I didn’t. I was sick with the flu (didn’t know it then – thought it was a cold) and couldn’t understand why all the meds I was taking weren’t helping. Then to made matters worse, when Jeff cut the floor, he cut the OTHER doubles (the ones who had a 2 hour break that night between shifts – not me though) and told me that he was not cutting the floor based on WHAT TIME YOU STARTED! The biggest BS I have ever heard. So there I was rolling silverware at 11:20pm with tears streaming down my face (I didn’t know I was crying until someone asked me what was wrong) I was an opener the next day (10:30am) and wanted to stick them so bad. I was ready to leave around 11:50pm but Steph and Ally made me stay – I would have been in my car on I55 as new year struck. All I could think about was this had better not be a precoursor as to how 2008 is going to go!
FEBRUARY: DID YOU HAVE A VALENTINE?: Nope
MARCH: DID YOU CELEBRATE ST. PATTY'S DAY BY GETTING DRUNK?: No, I think I missed those opportunities.
APRIL: DID YOU HAVE TO WALK IN THE RAIN?: I’m sure
MAY: DID YOU FAIL ANY CLASSES?: Heck no – that’s why you keep an eye on the deadline for withdrawals!!!!
JUNE: DID YOU BUY A NEW SWIMSUIT?: No
JULY: DID YOU PARTY ON 4TH OF JULY?: I hosted my own.
AUGUST: DID YOU GO TO THE BEACH?: YES!!! Virginia Beach in fact! Best Vac I ever took!
SEPTEMBER: DID YOU SCHOOL AGAIN?: Sure – my final semester
OCTOBER: WHAT DID YOU DRESS AS FOR HALLOWEEN?: College grad
NOVEMBER: WHAT DID YOU DO FOR THANKSGIVING?: The usual – dinner at Mom’s - butchered the turkey as usual! One of these years I’ll take a class and learn the proper technique for carving a turkey.
DECEMBER: WHAT DO YOU WANT/WHAT DID YOU GET FOR CHRISTMAS?: I need new winter coats but what I tried on did not care for the way they looked. Have to get to the gym!!!

CHANGE YOUR APPEARANCE?: Cut 6” off my hair – I miss it though!

GAIN NEW FRIENDS?: I learned a valuable lesson this year – the difference between wanting to be someone’s friend and actually being considered one.

MEMORY?: PARTY?: Memory would be approaching Tom and asking about working in Corporate. I was promoted about 3 weeks later!!!
CLUB/BAR/HANGOUT?: Sam’s! (Of course!!!)
MOMENT YOU LAUGHED SO HARD THAT YOU CRIED?: I had a lot of those – most recent was watching the “Pukeepsie” scene from Sex and the City on NYE – it still brings me to tears!!!
MOVIE?: Nothing really moved me but I did see William Peterson in “Dublin Carol” at Steppenwolf – I left and mused how I wished my grade school had a theater program , so that I would have felt comfortable trying out for the HS theater instead of saying I didn’t stand a chance with no experience.
SONG?: Single Ladies! I was learning that dance before it became “the thing” to do. As a former cheerleader and coach, every so often a song will come along that makes me want to develop a dance routine to and that song will probably be the most overplayed at competitions in the upcoming year!WORST 2008...
MEMORY?:
DAY AT WORK OR SCHOOL?: NYE and most of the other weekends when I would hear the other servers say they earned over $300 while I barely cracked $200. See, I wasn’t brought in by one of the existing managers so I wasn’t assigned to the parties and good sections so I didn’t make money.
EMBARRASSING MOMENT?. Can’t think of any
FIGHT/DISAGREEMENT/ARGUMENT?: The one that never happened but apparently is to blame for the dissolution of my friendship with Danita.
PAIN YOU FELT?: Putting myself out there and making myself vulnerable and being slapped
